ADDO AND LIONS

Day 24 we were off to the park again and headed to were we saw the baby yesterday and with good luck it would be at the watering hole.

But first the dung beetle......

All of that for this. This little guy rolls up elephant dung into huge round balls and lays eggs.

And then the elephants

"don;'t worry about me miss Daisy, I can set here all day and look at them elephants if you want" and if  I don't run out of wine.

There was a herd of about ten elephants when we arrived and they wandered away and we were leaving when all of a sudden, elephants came from every direction running and trumpting.  In the end there were about fifty elephants at the hole.  They stayed in
their herds for about thirty minutes and then slowly wandered off.

There would be a nice video here but right now it says 320 minutes to finish loading.

We roamed around and saw some more elephants, etc. but Miss Daisy was on such an elephant high it did not matter, except the two lions we saw.
he was scratching his butt on the log

We wanted a closer encounter with a cat than we had so in the afternoon we went to a private game reserve.  I was not sure I wanted to go drive around in a large "safari world" but it was much better and more realistic than I expected.  We got real close with rhino and lions.  The video, if you got to see it, would show you how close.  The rhino charged the vehicle and the lion and his women had a little tiff about five feet from the vehicle.
We got to meet some really nice people also. The guide, Carl, was a very knowledgeable and fun guy to be with. There was a young couple from South Africa that had sheep and grain farm that were a lot of fun and he and I got to talk John Deere, the proudest of animals. Also, guest farm owner, who moved here from Austria about 5 years ago with her American husband, who we did not meet.
